JAMES ROBSON architect

About

As an independent architect with over three decades of experience since qualifying in 1992, James brings a thoughtful and creative perspective to residential design. As a former Partner with a leading regional practice as well as experience on nationally recognised projects, he is well versed in the planning, technological and logistical challenges of construction.

His wider interest in drawing and painting also informs his process, looking at proportion and composition as well as an understanding of detail. A lasting curiosity about both historic and contemporary architecture continues to shape his knowledge of what makes a building work (or not).

His approach is rooted in the importance of context and that any building should be designed in a collaborative way. Each project presents an opportunity to create something distinctive: architecture that responds to the client's needs whilst retaining a clear design sensibility, with coherence and quality.

Working directly with James means having a considered, personal approach throughout the process. From the earliest drawings and the development of a design, through planning and into the building stage, he helps guide people through what can be a daunting task to help realise their goals and hopefully bring something original and unexpected to a project too.

As a registered architect for 34 years, James designed and supervised the building of numerous housing and development projects.

His interest has always been to look at design problems in a slightly different way, to hopefully create something original and interesting.

‘There is always something extra that can be gleaned from a project that hopefully gives clients added value and enjoyment from their building.'
